Each StoryTime Friends doll begins with a high-quality posable fabric body, which I carefully enhance by removing the generic head and replacing it with a custom-designed, hand-illustrated face — printed on premium cotton and heat-set for durability. Her hair is made of hand-sewn wool yarn, styled uniquely to match her personality. Mabel’s outfit is lovingly handmade from repurposed and sustainable fabrics, making each doll both eco-friendly and one-of-a-kind.

🌿 How I Created This Handmade Doll

Each Storytime Friends doll is the result of a thoughtful, loving, and eco-conscious process—blending storytelling, craftsmanship, and sustainability. Here’s how I created this special doll, Mabel Mirth:

1. Sourcing the Base Body
   I begin with a high-quality, posable cotton doll body that I carefully select for its structure and flexibility. These bodies are professionally made, which gives each doll a sturdy, child-friendly form. This choice allows me to focus on adding artistry, personality, and charm through the face and styling.

2. Handmade Face Creation
   I remove the original mass-produced head and replace it entirely with my own hand-designed face. Each face is digitally illustrated with watercolor textures, giving it a gentle, soulful expression. No two are alike. The faces are printed on fabric using professional textile inks, then hand-stitched back onto the body with care. Mabel’s joyful, melodic smile was inspired by her name and story.

3. Wool Hair and Styling
   Her hair is made from soft, natural wool yarn—cut, braided, and hand-stitched into place strand by strand. I styled Mabel’s hair in a sparkly brown bob to match her warm, uplifting nature.

4. Designing and Sewing the Outfit
   Mabel wears a charming lilac cotton dress accented with a floral print bib and puffed sleeves. I designed and sewed the entire outfit myself, using upcycled and sustainable fabrics when available. Her clothing is fully removable, so children can change her outfit for imaginative play.

5. Story and Tag
   Every doll comes with an official Storytime Friends card printed on recycled paper and marked with a unique serial number. Mabel Mirth’s card reads:

   This poetic line reflects the spirit of her design—cheerful, vibrant, and full of gentle wonder.

6. Finishing Touches
   I inspect every doll for balance, durability, and softness. Then I gently pack her with love, ready to bring joy to a new home. Because I reuse materials and practice sustainable methods wherever possible, each doll is as gentle on the Earth as she is to hold.
